Summer of 2008: Dyer St. Elementary Safari Mural Project

The Project was a [by youth for youth], designed and organized by students in 12th grade attending Sylmar High School. This was their way of giving back to their community in order to meet their 
service learning graduate recruitment.

2013 Mural Project: 


"Think For Yourself... Life is what you make of it!' 

Was a culmination project for the 2012-2013 youth leadership development and self empowerment program Young Warriors facilitated in collaboration with 



The purpose of the mural was to give an opportunity to the young men and women who participated in the program to voice the issues in their community affecting young people the most. The youth who took part in this project voiced that issues of Domestic Violence affected young woman the most. In the case of the young men, they voiced it was the peer pressure of being under the influence of drugs to be considered a "man".
Total Youth: 10      Ages 13- 17 


The artist we worked with to bring this project to existence were Kristy Sandoval and Rah Azul. 

 

Fall of 2013: Tia Chucha's Centro Cultural Mural Project 

"A token of appreciation..."


This project was designed by the Young Warriors to express what Tia Chucha's means to them 

and show their gratitude for the space. 
(The canvas uses for this project was made by the youth)
